About Katie
Hello...
My name is Katie Deri, and I am currently a Junior at John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
Last year I discovered the wonderful Haruni School community when I volunteered in Tanzania through a program called Love Volunteers. While I was volunteering, I witnessed first-hand the teachers' commitment to provide the best quality education for their students. Both the students and teachers were so passionate about their school and getting a quality education despite the extreme lack of resources and funds. The school is committed to give their students the best chance in life by providing them access to education at an early age to prepare them for the rest of their academic career, and exams.
I had the idea to raise money for The Haruni School community because I felt I could have a greater direct impact on people's lives than just by giving money to a large organization where I wouldn't be sure exactly how my donation was used.
I am eager to get back to The Haruni School, this Summer, and give them the supplies that they will forever be grateful for, and that I know the teachers and students will be able to utilize for years to come. Please help me change these students lives by clicking the donate now tab. Any amount you donate will have a lasting impact for the students, teachers and families involved with The Haruni School and their community! Thank you!!
